EON Plugin Technical Help Page
Having problems getting EON Reality's Web plug-in?

Here's some advice:
  1. Too solve almost all problems with the installation of EonX, dll versions etc, download the manual installation program called EON Viewer.

  2. Permission to install. WindowsNT and Windows2000 users may have security settings that prohibit you from installing programs. Often you need to be logged on as an administrator or have administrator priveledges.

Ask your system administrator for help in getting permission or get them to install. System administrators are advised to install the manual installation, EON Viewer, because it will install all components at once instead of downloading components on demand which will require administrator permission each time.

  3. ActiveX Enabled IE. Default Internet Explorer settings allow ActiveX controls to download. If you have disabled ActiveX controls then EonX will not be able to download. To check, look under Tools Menu, Internet Options..., Security tab. (Applies to Internet Explorer only). Those with Windows XP Service Pack 2 have different settings. There, ActiveX controls are not downloaded until the user clicks on a yellow info bar and chooses "Install ActiveX Control". Note: After the ActiveX control downloads there will be a security warning dialog. This user must click on Yes or Install to install the ActiveX Control.

  4. Other programs running. One reason for installation failure can be that some files that need to be replaced cannot be replaced because they are in use. Therefore, it is best to ensure you have closed down other programs and browser windows when you install the plugin. This is especially true if you are running other browsers or EON software. If you get a message that you need to restart your computer then it usually means that you already had EON software running during installation.

  5. Plugin file exists but not the EON software. For the Netscape, FireFox and Opera browsers the web page will assume that EON is installed if the right version of npEonXPlugin.dll is in its Plugins Folder. However this file is separate to the EON software. So you could get to a page with EON content and nothing happens. This usually happens when you have previously installed EON Plugin and the plugin file but then only removed EON Viewer. EON Viewer installation will attempt to install the plugin for most browsers it finds.

  6. Restart Browser. Some browsers may require that you restart the browser after installing or updating in order to detect the new plugin.

  7. Non-Internet Explorer browsers. These browsers do not support communication between the web page and the embedded EON content. Therefore any buttons or controls designed to influence the EON content will have no effect. This includes buttons that change size, set to fullscreen or stop.

  8. Do not try this! EON is not designed to run in two web page simultaneously. Also it is not designed to stop in direct response to an outevent from EON. Attempting this could cause EON to become unstable.

  9. Uninstall and try again. If you have any problems with installation we recommend that you uninstall EON completely, (perhaps reboot) and then try again. If you need help in uninstalling any EON software go to the Uninstall EON page.

  10. DirectX. EonX requires DirectX 6.1 or higher. For some special effects version 8 is required. You can download the latest version from Microsoft's web site.

  11. Email Support. If you still have problems then please write us an email describing the problem and including any error messages. Send you email to Eon Reality Support.
